Review by Michael Jiao for Private Equity: History, Governance, and Operations (Wiley Finance) Rating: This book is great for anybody taking an "intro to private equity class" or just wanting to learn more about private equity in general. There is an extensive history of private equity investment along with many diagrams that are easy to follow. It offers a good overview of the industry, also taking into account recent events in the financial sector. Overall, it's a great book for anybody looking to get started in PE and I would highly recommend it.

Review by Tj Nahigian for Private Equity: History, Governance, and Operations (Wiley Finance) Rating: This book served as a great reference guide for myself, a student soon entering the PE/ VC industry. The book gives a good sense of the theories used behind the modeling in both industries, as well as a unique and comprehensive perspective on the history of both industries. To really get a good grasp of the material; however, I think it is necessary to work through several real world cases. Overall, this book is great as an intro to PE or VC.

Review by CrisisGuy for Private Equity: History, Governance, and Operations (Wiley Finance) Rating: The first 150 pages of this book are most likely the best. Great history of PE investment with many graphs of fund returns and investment patters. Some of the later chapters are a bit disjointed, and two offer up a lot of legalese, but overall, a very good book for the PE novice.
